Here's a little story for you. Enjoy.
One day, Tate and his Daddy were hanging out "man style" with their best friend, Bru.
Daddy: That's good Tate. Be gentle.
Tate: I know Daddy. I just really like Bru's tags.
Daddy attempted to teach Tate how to gently pet Bru by showing him, only to have his hand shoved aside.
"Daddy! Bru is my friend! I know how to be nice to her." Tate declared.
Daddy patiently sat with Bru and Tate, on hand should his assistance be needed.
Tate: Did you mean, gentle like this, Daddy?
Their relationship has changed so much over the nine months Tate has been in Bru's life. It used to be that Tate was something new for Bru to sniff and investigate. Then, it slowly progressed to something more for the boy and his dog.
Daddy, I want my soccer ball real bad. But I am busy holding Bru's hand right now. I love her more than soccer, at least for this moment.
Due to the complex nature of the male human being and the inability for dogs to communicate fully with non-dogs, one can not be sure of what goes on inside the man, the boy and their dog's minds, but it can be assumed we have a pretty good idea.
Bru: I let him pull my ears, grab my tags, tug my hair and yell all the time. Right now, I believe he wants to paint my toes nails. But he is my boy and I love him.
